Duran (b. 1999) is an Austin-based artist whose practice focuses on members of the animal kingdom. Pulling inspiration from nature guides, Duran creates encyclopedic collections of drawings chronicling a wide variety of species. She uses both drawing and text to create work that is beautiful, detailed, and informative. When she's not in the studio, Duran enjoys spending time outside, playing with her dogs and raising and releasing Monarch butterflies.

"I like to draw plants, animals, and nature because they are very fascinating. I was born in the Year of the Rabbit and that's where I got my talent. I get ideas for what to draw from my head, the internet, and field guides." - Yesenia Duran
