COLOR PALETTE SAMPLED FROM IMAGES OF THE HOUSTON DAISY:

SPECIES INFO:

"The Houston camphor daisy's range spans only Galveston and Harris counties in the Upper Gulf Coastal Plain of Texas. This tap-rooted annual member of the sunflower family sports attractive golden-yellow camphor-scented flowers from September to November. Although it can grow up to waist high, in its native saline prairie habitat, it often hugs the ground at only a few inches tall. Rare prairie associates include perennial autumn blooming Texas windmill grass, Chloris texensis; and Texas prairie dawn, Hymenoxys texana, an annual spring blooming member of the sunflower family. Conservation of prairies and their species biodiversity provides ecosystem services, such as purification of air and water, flood control, and recreation, for surrounding metropolitan areas."
